6 Proven Ways to Build Trust and Master the Art of Online Credibility

Building trust online gets stronger when you build credibility. Credibility means that your brand and your products or service have a connection to somebody else in a meaningful way.

That could range from helping a person solve a problem and they be able to tell you a story about it to having reputable partners showcased. And even aligning with the products you sell or represent

Using these on your website and marketing material can help build the trust you need with your potential customers.

Here are six ways to help you do that.

1. Add logos of partners

The people and brands you have partnered with are essential to you, but they are also crucial to your audience. Placing the logos on your website and marketing material will boost the trust that you’re someone that can build relationships.

When I was asked about adding logos to a website of unknown brands, I still recommended doing so. There are a couple of reasons.

  • Adding external links is excellent for SEO.
  • It gives your potential customers a chance to learn more about the products. Today’s customers spend a lot of time researching online before making a decision. They want to know the features, pros, and cons before taking the time to see it in person.

💡 TIP: Make sure the external links open in a new tab. You want the customer to stay on your website!

2. Testimonials, Reviews, And Raves

Having testimonials, reviews, and raves from people you have worked with shows you know how to solve a problem. Your website and marketing material need to continuously showcase that you can help guide people to a problem solved.

You may also open doors to other problems you solve that readers needed to learn about.

3. Talk about your process

Walking-through your process on your website is one way to talk about how you’ve thought through what it is you will help the customer solve. So instead of just saying, “call me to learn more,” walk through the steps of what it’s like to work with you.

Showcasing your process will add some credibility that you’ve done this before and have the right experience to move forward.

4. Don't hide who you are

Have your contact information readily available. Have your location, phone number email address, so people have a sense that you are that actual person or business. You’re not hiding behind something.

5. Use Authentic images and graphics

Make sure what you’re putting on your website represents who you are as a brand. I’m not against using stock images. But eventually, you’ll want to work with a local photographer to create a presence of the experience of working with you. It adds to the personality!

Don’t worry; you can focus on something other than getting headshot after headshot or having to be in every image. But photos of your team, building, product, or service in action make you authentic and credible.

6. Clear, easy-to-use website

Clarity is the most important thing for your website. Yes, a modern, responsive website is essential, and a design that aligns with your brand is key. But if you’re unclear about who you are, what you do, or how you solve problems, you instantly lose credibility with people. Focus on making your homepage header clear, limit your navigation links, and make it easy to do business with you with a strong call-to-action.

In conclusion, you can quickly start adding credibility to your website anytime. Update this monthly, if not more often, and post the most recent reviews and testimonials. Credibility on your website will help you seem more authentic and ready to work with your potential customers.
